Takes me back to the good old days the clubs the scene …. turn up the BASE ...
Timberahue
Got a copy with the AA label on both sides of the record - otherwise, it's the same as the regular release with A side and AA side pressed (but with the AA side label on both sides).

I remember buying this then running bk home and poppin some pink California's proper off it wow wicked tracks "rushing"
Malalrajas
Legendary tune remembered well and looking at the Credits you would not expect anything less.
Wanenai
I have a version of this with two A side labels (XXX mix) – is this rare or just crap labelling?
Netlandinhabitant
Rare as rocking horse [email protected], am I lucky enough to have one :>
Ranicengi
Sounds equal or diferent? I had trip 2 moon part 1 .. diferent press with little diferences.
Delalbine
For me, this song is so played out however I must remember that this very tune is what turned me on to U.K. Ardkore in the first place. If it wasn't for this my interest in dance music wouldn't have progressed passed Maurice This is Acid. Really the only bad thing about this record has nothing to do with Acen or the record itself. The problem is, this record got played in the United States way too much. Distribution for these records here was crap so American DJs played the hell out of whatever they could find and this record was always at the top of that small pile. It got rinsed at the Limelight, The Shelter, and at every single revival night after the fact. It's hard to love this record now since I heard it so often in the 90s. Though, if it wasn't for this one I wouldn't be here typing this review with the handle "stuck_in_1992" so I thank you Mr Razvi. Thank you for introducing me to this great dance music.

The non Beatles version of Optikonfusion! mix is highly better and more complete than the Beatles one, as with the late part of the track, after the omitted sample, is different with extra rave stabs and not so repetitive as the usual Beatles version. I was always hearing only the non Beatles version playing in radio stations back in time, and for my surprise i just discovered recently the Beatles version and realized that is the only one existed on this release. Where is the non Beatles version???? I can't find it and i need to buy it. Can anyone tell me where is it?
Kulafyn
Best of techno volume 3 on profile records has it on there
Linn
You can find the mix on the 75 minutes of Acen CD.
Kazimi
Acen tunes were some of the first hardcore tracks I listened to on vinyl as a 14 year old. The mans tacks were amazing and still are, a pure genius of his time.
Milleynti
Wicked track, first heard this on Rave generation 2. A lot different to other rave tunes at the time, dark but accessible. Love the breakdown with the chime-type sounds , anyone know where these are from?
Iarim
Can someone please confirm the legend that the version without the "Here Comes The Sun" sample is labelled "(Optikonfision!)!!"?I have never seen a label with "(Optikonfision!)!!". Typo or not.
Dead Samurai
Well matt_bassline, my copy arrived. Identical matrix info as listed above, and complete with Beatles sample.I am certain that the butchered version is basically only on the 75 Minutes album, as well as some compilations.I wager that every copy of PNT 034R is complete.
Truthcliff
Yeah matt_bassline, I've just ordered a copy so we'll wait and see what I get. I will cross-reference the matrix info as well as confirming I've got the Beatles sample. To be honest, I'm beginning to think the whole "(Optikonfision!)!!" thing is BS.I have not seen one single image online to reference such a pressing, and given the "Have" list (over 1400 here on Discogs), I doubt it actually exists. The version without the Beatles sample is indeed butchery, but let's wait and see what I get...EDIT: I think I see where DJMarineCorpse got his info from: Techno Trip Vol. 3 (Still Tripping). That is the most plausible idea. Simply a typo on that Canadian compilation, which was clearly taken from the 75 Minutes CD.
Uylo
That's always intrigued me too. I'm not sure about different labels but I would have thought that there must be copies out there with different runout etchings. My own copy has the original Beatles sample and the exact same etchings as shown above. It would be interesting to hear from owners of the non Beatles version.
Clever
Both top remixes, I was lucky enough to pick up the one with the Harrison sample for a couple of quid. The Sequel is not often played, but it should be; extremely creepy and sinister in places, although the bass can be a little heavy and drown certain parts out.
Stick
a proper rave monster
anneli
i remember this tune from 1992, what a graet trak and a lot better than the first one. a must have!!!
terostr
as others have said, get the one with the original george harrison on it,not the revocalised b.....ks.classic production house...made in london.banger!
Skrimpak
Not much really to say about this tune, I heard this tune on a casette tape first time round. Since then it has always been my fav Acen tune, the samples are spot on, both tunes are quality.

Well said

Both remixes contain some nice soothingmelodic moments. The one in 'Remix I' is built upon a sample from 'Here Comes the Sun' song by The Beatles and features George Harrison singing and playing acoustic guitar. Don't know where the samples for the one in 'Remix II' come from, but for some reason it reminds me of DJ Shadow's 'Midnight In A Perfect World' track. It's a pity those melodic parts are so short. As for the Rave, the beats are cool on both sides, but the bass -( The bassline on both remixes is very simple and uncreative. Very disappointing. The bass in the second half of "Remix II (The Sequel)" is total crap! It nearly ruins a whole song!

If one tune encapsulates the genius of Acen for me, then "Close Your Eyes (XXX Mix)" is the one. I have never come accross another hardcore track which appears to squeeze a whole "rave" into it's 7 minute running time. With it's energetic start to warm you up. "Close Your Eyes (XXX Mix)" then builds up in intensity with mentasmic rave stabs, Jim Morrison/Public Enemy samples and rolling breakbeats (NWA's "Straight Out Of Compton"???). Then then the "rush" hits you near the end with these almost heavenly synths and exclamations of "ECSTACY!!!". For a non-drug user to feel such feelings of elation when hearing this track, just goes to show the sheer brilliance of Acen's compositions. Throwaway, rave-crap??? Not a chance!
Saithinin
What can you say about this track? This track just says 'Dreamscape and seriously good times'. Probably one tune Ill never ever get bored of hearing. Everyone talks about the Beatles sample but for me the killer line has always been the Jim Morrison [Doors]line....."Just close your eyes....go insane". Godammn this track STULL makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.11/10
Adokelv
A track that measures up after more than a decade. Delicate beats, infused with deft samples and a haunting little voice over. Optikonfusion is indeed the one you want. Without the Beatles sample, this is less than half the song. An early 90s lesson in stealing loops and some sampling mayhem is what you should expect from Acen, and with this release they deliver in a big way. If your copy does not contain the Beatles sample, seek one that does.
Shakanos
Two decades - still does...
Soustil
Bottom line: Copies labeled (Optikonfusion!) are the original, as Acen intended, with the Beatles sample (which adds a lot to the track, IMO). Copies labeled (Optikonfision!)!! have the Beatles sample edited out, and are utter butchery. The Acen album "75 Minutes" contains the edited version. And by the way, the whole "legal", "illegal" thing is not really accurate. Acen samples so many different things that if you made a completely legal un-copyright-infringing version you'd be left with jack shit.
