Album

Burial is the debut studio album by London electronic producer Burial, released in 2006 on Kode9's Hyperdub label. Considered a landmark of the mid-2000s dubstep scene, the album's sound features a dark, emotive take on the UK rave music that preoccupied Burial in his youth, including 2-step, jungle, and UK garage. Critics have variously interpreted the release as an elegy for the dissipated rave movement and a sullen audio portrait of London. Burial by Burial, released 31 March 2014 1. Untitiled 2. Overall a satisfying listening, though some tracks are much better than other which are stripped out of melodies, while the best ones are rich in tunes and emotion. Most tracks feels like being played in big open spaces, and they fit well with British city scenarios. " Forgive" is my top track in this release.
Malojurus
13 years after the release I finally dared to listen ... Earlier, intuition told me NO!I wasn't disappointed ... A collection of plastic songs with laptop sound. A shovel of post-techno era. I don't recommend.

You have written 4 reviews and never said anything positive. Critical thought is to be encouraged, but you have no understanding of this album and you're way out of your depth here. Move along. There's a lot of lovers of (very good) techno here, running Burial down. Juan Atkins is incredible as are so many other detroit porducers of that era, but this is not related to that scene - its a product of post UKG and earlier hardcore records. For those that feel it, it is a very special record.
Clodebd
Can anyone prove that side C/D actually exist in white label form? I dare you to prove me that there is...
Vetitc
I'm generally not drawn towards garage, however this album is captivatingly beautiful and free from any cliches the genre is known for. Dark and truly groundbreaking work, an album you must hear before you die.
Alianyau
Mans be chatting nuff rubbish on the internet.I heart Burial.
Qusserel
had both albums on cd and this re-release reminded me that the vinyl must be purchased, as it should for all your favourite electronic music releases. or is that just me. Sublime dubz with a tinge of darkness in reverb spaces. the beats are sophisticated and understated. And as has happened a lot over years, it's alway reassuring to see more groundbreaking and serious music coming out of the UK. Let us pray our creative Islands don't ever dry up ;)
Gholbirdred
pretty steril imo, not my cup of tea, too randomly produced for me, lacks coherence
PanshyR
I'm amazed that someone who advertises the fact that they listen to trance would dare to comment about any other music.
Ericaz
ha ha. maybe that trance music has misinformed you..? (friendly joke)
Kison
Absoloutly beautiful, every track is pumped with atmosphere and emotion. A definate must have for everyone.
GEL
Mindblowing album, the dark dub elements are here most apparent imo. Still can't decide which album I prefer most, Untrue or this one.

BORING ! how can so much good equipment produce something so dull ! Whoever rates this needs to listen to some good electronic music , Kraftwerk , LFO , Derrick May . Jaun Atkins . burial = poop . zomby = poop .
Anicasalar
timibbitson you need to get out more. i have 30.000 vinyls and burial aint in em any more . . . . .maybe on cd somewhere . . . . . it is so so dull. sounds half finished at best. i make better music with brushing my teeth ! Hell yeah, it's nice to share your opinion with us. I am very curious about the music created by you then. Could you please tell me your artistic name? Or maybe you just should brush your teeth properly, cause I smell something stinking coming out of your mouth ;-)
Aradwyn
timibbitson i would if i listened to this too much . . . its dull . try listening to Kevin Saunderson . your welcome . Thanks for your childish recommendation, if I'd like to listen to some UK garage/dubstep sounds I will surely try to listen to Kevin Saunderson :-))
Runehammer
But the important thing is you took the time to insult someone on the internet for not liking something you like.
Nejind
Agreeing with a Tim. It's not very good. Got this like the month it came out. Talked about in the forum about it being different so I took a shot at it. Dissapointing. Played it for a friend a few after because they started heard dubstep. He thought it was ok. I haven't played it since. And I have never wanted. Pretty dull and no heart. No soul. No funk. No space. No nada. No hopes and dreams. No electronic soul. End
Dog_Uoll
I listen to John Cage and Stockhausen and i love Burial. So what?

I like this album thanks so I won't be taking your kind advice. Also I have over 500 'electronica' albums so I like to think I know a fair about what I think is right for me
Ricep
you obviously know nothing about Burial's production process. there wasn't "so much good equipment"; in fact, he used almost no equipment to make this album. and if you think that the only good electronic music is from decades ago, it is patently obvious you have no idea what you're talking about concerning this huge, expansive, always-evolving genre. as such, your credibility is zero and your opinion worthless.

Kraftwerk and LFO are great. But so are Zomby and Burial. There's a difference between chill and dull.
Dikus
This isn't the powerful emotional ride that "Untrue" turned out to be, but it came out at a time when this sound was still fresh, innovative, and exciting. While "Untrue" is about the mood and atmospherics, I'd argue this album is more about the production. Burial pushed new boundaries in dub with this work, a style he would later perfect.

The 51 minutes of this masterpiece can turn and turn for hours and you will just feel better at every play's. Perfectly produced to ear's heaven, subtle, powerful and yet incredibly emotional are every seconds on this record. Crossing and flirting with every boundary to achieve its own and sure deserved particular style, the Burial style... Get this record, play it, sit down and teleport youself to the South London Boroughs...
Yanki
EpicForever Hm... I'm pretty sure I've never heard anything more boring than this. And yes, this can "turn for hours" - this shouldn't bother you too much. Not more than random sounds from window opened on the street. It's pretty tricky and informative review from someone, who gave 4 star rating to releases like https://www.discogs.com/Kate-Ryan-D%C3%A9senchant%C3%A9e/release/3561361 or https://www.discogs.com/Kate-Ryan-Libertine/release/229652 :-).
Gralsa
Boring is your doubled opinion.

Not more than random sounds from window opened on the street. I'd like to live on your street. When I open my window I hear no broken 2 step rhythms, smudged melodies and distant rave vocals. Maybe when you opened your window your neighbour was playing the burial album? You should go around to his house and hang out with him. He has a better record collection than you.
Jerinovir
hmm well ... everybody has got his own opinion about music, which i respect, but i have to admit that at first hearing of this album , it was kind of like , discovering a new style. A very! small style ( indeed ! the burial style) not few artists come close to his stuff IMO!! only apparat and recently james blake, that's about itto end i should say ,this is so damn good that i'd rather eat it then selling it
