Album

1999: The New Master is an EP of newly recorded remixes of Prince's 1982 hit 1999. The EP was released in the year 1999 to take advantage of the song's namesake year. Using the original tracks, Prince added additional music, as well as contributions from a new lineup suspiciously resembling The New Power Generation, including Rosie Gaines, Larry Graham and Doug E. The EP was released in the U. on CD, as well as a rare purple vinyl 12-inch. 1999 is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the first to feature his band the Revolution. It was released on October 27, 1982, by Warner Bros. 1999's critical and commercial success propelled Prince to a place in the public psyche, and marked the beginning of two years of heightened fame via his following releases. 1999 was Prince's first top 10 album on the Billboard 200, peaking at number nine, and was fifth in the Billboard Year-End Albums of 1983. 1999: The New Master was a self-released EP by Prince, then known as his unpronouncable symbol, consisting of remixes and re-recordings of 1999 , his 1982 hit and title song from his 1983 album, 1999. Since his name was still copywritten by Warner Bros. The Revolution was written backwards on the cover, like on the album cover of 1999. 1999-The New Master offers refreshing and invigorating alternatives to the pop gem, thanks to The Artist and an intimate group of remarkable talent and members of his New Power Generation family. More hip-hop oriented, it's a good track with a b-side quality that I probably listen to most often. House: Ugh. first of all, I can't stand the female vocalist featured in almost every track her voice is annoying, and she pretty much just spews out stupid little phrases like 'eeehhhhhaaahhhehhhhh it's 1999' and 'IIIII caaaame to paaarrrty' and scat. This is just another dull remix. 1999 is the first track on Prince's fifth album 1999, and, one month prior to the album's release, 1999 was released as the album's first single. The song has been released around the world many times in Prince's career. In 1993, the track was included as the ninth track on Prince's first compilation album The Hits 1 also included as the first disc of The Hits, The B-Sides. In 2001, the track was included as the second track on the compilation album The Very Best Of Prince

I've always suspected that the 'acapella' version on this E.P. was just the vocal tracks from The New Master, as they sound exactly the same, almost like they were going to make one more remix but settled on stripping the music and just calling it acapella. It always felt very insincere to me; they could've performed a more cohesive acapella rendition but it just sounds cheap.
