i thought "What a wonderful record ...!" when i first listened to a sample of the original issue offered by frenchattack. I was very delighted when i noticed that i will be reissued by frenchattack/diggersdigest and immediatly ordered a copy from frenchattack right when it came out. These guys did a great job with the quality of the cover and the sound quality is fantastic ! Thanks again!! :-)

Track 6, the main piece, is almost certainly a vinyl rip. The quality is very poor. Avoid this version if you can, It's almost certainly a bootleg.

Any honest comments on the quality of the Sommor RE compare to the Diggersdigest RE?

I just received my copy today--I can't really answer your question because I have not heard an original, nor have I heard the Diggersdigest version. I have a few diggersdigest releases and they are all very top quality, so you most likely won't go wrong with them in my opinion. The Sommor reissue sounds quite good to my ears and on my system. The way the cymbals were recorded originally on this album are pretty treble-y from what i can tell, and are put through some kinds of filters. But the Israel Suite tune itself sounds very full, deep bass, piano is very clear. It is a needle drop from an original like the diggersdigest one, and if you turn up your volume quite high you can of course hear some surface noise, and during the very quiet intro of Israel Suite a few crackles and pops from the original sourcing. It does not bother me. The font lettering is slightly altered on the Sommor version if you're a stickler for that (notice the R in Israel). I do not mind, it is very close, and the actual artwork does appear to be originally sourced as the description says. Well packaged, nice polyvinyl sleeve, nice heavy weight vinyl. I am quite pleased, though will consider picking up the Diggersdigest version as well once it gets a repress to compare. Right now it is too pricey.

If the rights had been sold before you can be asked to retract this release. First legal signed contract is binding. So there is possibility you have be scammed. Happens a lot with release rights.

From diggerdigests recent instagram post, it seems the producer Krief swindled him and broke the contract they had de facto by signing another one with Guerssen. So it doesn't seem like they're really at fault here, but I suppose maybe they should have reached out to diggersdigest before hand seeing as it was just reissued by them? I would have suspected some funny business.In regards to source, I was told by the label that it is a needle drop just like the diggersdigest version. there are no master tapes i guess. still, I've heard some great needle drops so the jury is out, and I'm told it sounds pretty good from the label (of course we will all wait to hear it ourselves!). Thanks much Jesu83, but I've already decided to take a shot and preordered it. Hoping it's great, because you are correct--this is beautiful music.

So how exactly does this work? I mean the Diggers Digest edition has been sold out for quite a while. Prices on Discogs for their reissue are very expensive. Diggers Digest says they have a 5 year contract, so was there any plan for a repress from them? Regarding the Sommor edition, is there any mastering information available? Audio source? Who cut the lacquers? Where was this pressed? This album should be more widely available. Great piece of music. Just another messy day in the reissue biz. dmscheuring, I might be getting a few Sommor reissues in the next few weeks. If I do end up getting them, I'll let you know how it goes.
