Blondie may have had a string of number one hits and Talking Heads may have won the hearts of the critics, but the Cars were the most successful American new wave band to emerge in the late '70s. With its sleek, mechanical poprock, the band racked up a string of platinum albums and Top 40 singles that made it one of the most popular American rock & roll bands of the late '70s and early '80s. The album continues on with hits off of Candy-O Let's Go, Panorama Touch and Go, Shake it Up and its top and windows down tracks Shake it Up and the semi-Bob Dylanesque vocals on Since You've Gone and tender I'm Not the One, and then concludes with other memorable tunes of the late 1980s Tonight She Comes, Hello Again, and You are the Girl. Greatest Hits is a fine collection of the quintessential New-Wave band of the 1980s that typified power pop. Vender esta versión. Complete Greatest Hits CD, Comp. Elektra, Rhino Records 2. Cars is the soundtrack album to the 2006 Disney-Pixar animated film of the same name. Released by Walt Disney Records on June 6, 2006, nine songs from the soundtrack are from popular and contemporary artists. The styles of these songs vary between pop, blues, country, and rock. The remaining eleven pieces are orchestral scores composed and conducted by Randy Newman. The soundtrack was released three days before the film's release into theaters. The Cars: все альбомы, включая Got a Lot on My Head , Drive , Live at The Agora, 1978 и другие. The Cars' 1978 self-titled debut, issued on the Elektra label, is a genuine rock masterpiece. The band jokingly referred to the album as their true greatest-hits album, but it's no exaggeration - all nine tracks are new waverock classics, still in rotation on rock radio. Whereas most bands of the late '70s embraced either punknew wave or hard rock, the Cars were one of the first bands to do the unthinkable - merge the two styles together. If you’re one of the twelve people walking the planet who doesn’t already own The Cars 1978 self titled release, and are considering that purchase, may I suggest you step on over to this, The Cars Greatest Hits ... which is a bit of an oxymoron, as all nine tracks from that original album with the sensational artwork, were nothing short of instant hits, with all still in rotation today on classic rock radio stations.

The difference is that here, you get eleven additional tracks from later albums that didn’t manage to hold up as well, and certainly didn’t manage the unthinkable, embracing the styles of punk, hard rock, and new wave with Rick Ocasek’s pop sensibilities to create something more ... and that something more is simply what made The Cars, The Cars.  And all of this jockeyed The Cars to position themselves as one of the only bands who’ve ever managed to instantly lay down a Top 40’s classic album, where the sum of its parts [the songs], were equal to the whole [the entire album].

What you’ll find on this compilation are nothing short of flawless performances, production, and songwriting, where the songs sound both glossy and surprisingly brittle, like a frozen pain of glass cutting straight into your heart, forcing me to consider what Buddy Holly might have sounded like had he swapped his Stratocaster for a Roland Synthesizer.  This was the most catchy band I've ever heard, who created the perfect album for the summer of 1978, when the edges of white-line fever were tempered with those mind numbing, carnival-ish, never to be seen again ROAR 714 Quaaludes.  So, while we may never see those 714’s again, and certainly have learned our lesson regarding cocaine, The Cars still roll on, giving me “just what I needed.”

I absolutely love this album. I really can't get enough of it. They managed to jam-pack 20 songs from the band, and I am very happy for that. There are some of the best new wave songs in this CD. This is what pop is all about. It's fun, it's catchy, it's got one helluva sound. I recommend people who like The Cars to go out and immediately get this CD. If you like classic rock, or alternative rock, you'll definitely like the sound here. If you new wave, you will probably appreciate it as well.

Half of the songs are quite upbeat and energetic, and songs such as "Just What I Needed," "My Best Friend's Girl," and "Let's Go" are just begging for people to sing along. The vocals are in an accessible range, and they sound really good.

The other half of the songs are quieter and slower, but don't look over these, because they are quite good as well. "I'm Not The One," "Drive," and "Why Can't I Have You" are slow, light, dreamy, and layered with the lush sound of electronics to make the straightforward rock music not so mainstream.

Trust me on this people. You like rock? Like new wave? You really need to get this. You can serious ditch all your old records from these guys and just get all the classics on this one CD. I think it was quite worth it.
